So http://kikapu.org/ is releasing my new ambient comp album sometime this lovely month of February. It's simply called "Val" and it will be a single 49 minute track composed of some of my personal favorites through the years. Stay tuned.
On another note, I will be doing a top 10 albums of 2011 list sometime. I've listened to a handful of other albums and it's slightly changed... pics and little comments coming soon.

Watching, listening 12-16-11
Probably what's so great about Beavis and Butthead is people can both enjoy at its very base level, and others can enjoy it for its satire. I couldn't really enjoy either growing up though, but now that the show's back on I'm finally truly discovering it. The new episodes are fantastic and now I'm going back to the original starting at the beginning. Here's a full (old) episode, not sure how long it will be up though:
Others: House (1977 Japanese film)
Up there for taking the honors of worst band to do a search for, The The, is what I'm listening to at the moment. This song and the album it comes from mainly. Just some interesting left of the dial 80s pop music. This guy was definitely not with the times and maybe that's what's so interesting. Looking forward to listening to some other albums.
Others: Peter Gabriel, Tangerine Dream, Frank Black, etc

Now watching, listening...
Watching a lot of Bergman lately. Still in the middle of this one:
Scenes from a Marriage: never been married but it's still an interesting subject to explore, for anyone that has been a long/lasting relationship. Of course, this one is a sham as many can be, as it lacks love. Some pretty heavy stuff; not for the squeamish.
Also watching: ATHF, new Beavis and Butthead, other Bergman.
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming: this guy always has some fantastic tunes. The first single is so good. Haven't listened to the whole album yet, but I'm working on it.
Also listening: Destroyer, Girls, Cut Copy, Kurt Vile, Grouper, Gang Gang Dance.

Finally came up with an idea for this blog-thing here. Now listening, now reading, now watching, etc posts. I'll start off with a now listening because I've been going through a number of '11 releases. First off:
Kate Bush - 50 Words for Snow: A little disappointed with this one at this point but it may still grow on me. There aren't really any drop-dead gorgeous melodies, which is kind of sad. But at the same time Kate is developing as an artist, which is good for her at least. I hope she can put out more releases at a quicker pace now that she has her own record label.
David Lynch - Crazy Clown Time: Nice little album that reminds me of Residents at points. A number of quiet, dark songs with Lynch's nasally vocals on top. Pleasantly surprised with this.
Others: Listening to my own best-of album called "Val" coming out sometime on kikapu netlabel. New Tom Waits is decent. St. Vincent's new album has some really good tracks and some blah. etc
